I am making a montage using After Effects and have put clips in and synced music with them, but when i add another clip the green bar above the clip goes black and when i play the video it leaves that part out.

Screenshot (3).png

When i go over it with the blue line the green comes back and the black part moves to the start of the clip, then when i play the clip the part with the black fills in green and when the video is about to play the clip the black comes back and it doesn't show the clip it just goes back to the start.

All help is appreciated.

You're trying to cut to the beat using AE?  Why aren't you using Premiere Pro?

Unlike AE, it's actually designed for video editing.

It might be useful to read up on how previews in AE actually work. As per your description there is nothing wrong. This is just how AE works.

I agree with Dave. AE is for creating shots that you cannot create any other way. My normal comp is under seven seconds long and a single shot. I did a couple hundred comps in the last two weeks that were under 2 seconds. One that was 10 frames. AE is the worst video editing tool you could have chosen. Your screenshot is showing us about 2200 frames or about a minute and 15 seconds but that is only about 1/4 of the comp so you are trying to cut about a four-minute movie and so far the average shot is just over 3 seconds. Sorry, that's not the right way to use the tool and you'll go crazy. So would I and I've been using AE for 25 years.

You need to use Premiere Pro in this kind of projects. Make this in AE it's very difficult and sometimes frustrating.
