clips replacement black screen

I have an after effects project file of another person i dont have the clips he used but I want to use my clips in place of it so when I replace it it shows black screen for that particular screen and if I place a picture instead of it, It works as the project file is followed. 
Please how to fix it.

• Can you please share a screen recording of what you're seeing?
• Does the footage render if you import it into a new project and a new comp?
• What version of AE are you using and can you please share your system specs?
