Clone Stamping

Hi Folks,

I am looking to stamp a section of video and attach it to a null object. I have my section cloned, yet I can't put it in an adjustment layer and it does not let me connect it in any way to the tacked section. When I select to link it to the tracked null the position moves and will not allow me to adjust?

I can't see why this is so difficult to achieve - essentially I want the cloned section to update and move with the footage. Another option is to clone the section I need in Photoshop and just track the exported PNG with transparency. But AE seems to make this a difficult task? Am i missing something here?

So essentially I want to clone the orange circle to the green circle and have it follow continously. Every way i try the track fails or the clone starts cloning random sections of the video.

The only thing you are missing is spending time with the user guide and looking at the modified properties of a layer when Clone is used.

You can attach the brush or the source to any null with a simple pickwhip expression. That will move either. You can set any layer as the source for the clone and if you turn on Paint On Transparent after you are through creating the brush strokes and the source is pointed to another layer all you get is the brushes.
