Hello,
i downloaded a template cause i just started with AE. I set everything up but the Color Control doesnt work. No matter wich color i change it doesnt make any difference. As you can see i set all the colors to black and the video is still the same. The template i used is the exact same one as in the video below. The guy in the video is editing it around 1:25 minutes. As i said i have the exact same file as he has and as you can see in my screenshot no matter what i do the colors dont change.

The bottom of the Composition Panel shows an Expression Error. My guess is that you have the wrong Expression Engine enabled. Goto the Project Settings window/dialog (bottom of Project Panel; Rocket Icon) and change the Expression Engine to Javascript, if my guess is correct, your Adobe After Effects is using the Legacy Expression Engine.

The item you are referencing doesn't actaully have anything that can be changed. There is no layer nor an effect like Fill linked to the expression. Of course this renders the color control inert and breaks the expression. You need to add an actual layer to the pre-comp and apply an effect that can be linked to a color control.

what errors are here? I guess their description can help to see the issue.
