Hi, I'm not actually a coder myself but I have recently been working with a developer to get a copy of his old plug-in going (it is ProConvert, which exports an AE comp into a shake script, ...it was written for AE6.5 and that is what i am trying to get it working with). What we have found is that when the plugin is compiled to the AE plug-in directory, it works as expected, ...but if you copy, move, rename, or do anything with it (like try to copy it to another system) it will stop being recognized as an AE plugin.
I have a feeling this must be something small we're over-looking, but it is a little frustrating.

The code is available as a free download at this location (as is the compiled plugin which fails to be recognized within AE6.5).

That's pretty strange. Is the PiPL getting mangled along the way? If you like, you can send me a Stuffit archive of the plug-in, and I'll look further.

(Remember to give the attachment a non-threatening extension, like .not_a_virus, or it'll never get past our mail gateway...)
