I've searched this question online but I can't find the solution so I apologize if it's obvious because I'm new to After Effects (have been using Premiere Pro to edit video for two years now).
I've created a motion graphic composition that I'd like to use as a title for a video I'm editing in Premiere Pro, but no matter what I do I can't figure out how to change my composition background color from black to white. Every time I export to Premiere, no matter what I do in AE, it comes out black. Then in Premiere, the normal Title options to change background color appear to be available but aren't working on my exported composition. How do I fix this?
I've already tried creating a white layer as the most background in my composition in AE and then exporting, as well as just changing the Composition's background color.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
It sounds like you're exporting the AE Comp at Best Settings, Lossless with Alpha. The resulting MOV file will be transparent where the Comp background is and cancel out the background color.
If that's the cause, then switch to an Output Module that does not include the Alpha ("Lossless" for example) and the color you've set for the Comp background should appear in the rendered movie file.
Another work around: Create a Solid layer at the Comp size with the desired color and stack it behind you

Without more specific info nobody can tell you much such as exact composition settings and infos about your sequence. From your vague description it simply seems you are bumping into one of those endless bugs/ issues with hardware accelerated functions and your graphics card not being up to it, so the usual steps apply - check preferences, update your graphics drivers, turn off accelerated features in AE.

MOST production formats do not render AE's comp background color because changing the comp background color does not fill the alpha channel. It is still transparent until you put some pixels over it. The only real reason to change the comp background color is to influence the edge color of alpha channels when you render RGB + Alpha and choose Premultiplied as the option. The industry standard is Straight Alpha. That's what AE, Premiere Pro, Fusion, Nuke, Divinci and every other app I know of uses as the default. Only AE's default Lossless With Alpha preset is set to Premultiplied with Alpha by default. That's one of the first things I check and change when I open up AE for the first time.
