Asked this in Premier Pro forum and they referred me over to here - you guys must be smarter

Complete noob in PP (& AE) - sorry if this is a stupid question!?

Is it possible to mask out and fill in (content aware in PS) that area while tracking?

Here is the reference clip - like to remove (not blur) the two humans in the clip: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uxwxspxms699gxb/DroneClip.mp4?dl=0

there's 2 answers to this.

1 is "No, but we do have a clone tool!" and you can learn about that here: Removing an Object with Clone Stamp - YouTube

2 is "Yes (sorta) but it's complicated and you're really just exporting frames and batching them through PS". You can learn about that option here: http://www.motionboutique.com/content-aware-fill/

DISCLAIMER: I've never used that 2nd option. I've heard amazing and terrible things about it. Make sure you keep a copy of whatever frames you run through

Aside from what Mat said, it might be useful to clear your mind of wrong preconceptions. Many things that work splendidly for still images don't necessarily make sense for video and require a whole different approach. I guess that's what was implied when referring to option two - the chance of it looking utterly garbage is greater than it actually looking good. Personally I'd even shun AE's clone tool like the devil. for most video stuff it simply makes more sense to try and cut out things in a clean manner using masks and then patch it up by filling in the transparent areas with duplicates of the footage or doctored up stills using feathered edges to belnd things in...
