create shapes from vector layer option doesn't work at all

Hi, I can't find a solution to this problem and I'm really frustrated. I cannot use the create shapes from vector layer option. It's not that something is wrong after conversion, but that I can't even use it, it's inactive.

The layer you have selected is a Nested Composition. AE renders and calculates raster/bitmap internally unless the layer is an AI file, Shape Layer or Text Layer. Even if your Nested Comp contains one of these layers, upon nesting, AE converts the vector into a bitmap/raster. One way to overcome this rasterization while nesting is to use the Continuously Rasterize option and this is an advanced feature - so be mindful should you try to get over this issue.

There are no vectors to convert. You have drawn a mask onto a pre-composition based layer. You may want to actually read the help instead of just flying blind.

This is a AI file, not a mask

As per your screenshot it is a mask and the layer is a pre-comp. If you copy & pasted over an AI path, it ceases to exist as an AI file. Again, please read the help. You are misunderstanding a few things.

Okay, then the yellow color is just a coincidence. Still, there's nothing to convert. Your document is in CMYK mode, which will always flatten them to retain appearance and they become un-convertable. You need to work in RGB mode. Again, you may want to read the online help on soem basics.

yes, I want to read it, but it worried me that although I thought that I import files from ai, as in the tutorials I watched, it still didn't work, so I broke down and preferred to ask what mistake I was making, thank you for your answer, best regards

AE can only Create Shape Layers from a selected AI file in the Timeline. Anything else will not work since the related menu item will be greyed out. HTH
