Hi there - I'm in need of some guidance on which laptop to choose. I'm not sure if this is the right place for this convo, but figured it was a good place to start. To give some background, I'm a graphic designer who works for a civil engineering firm. We do 3D Modeling and more and more of video animation with After Effects (along with mostly everything else in the Cloud). I'm in the process of getting a new computer through the company. Ideally, I'm looking for a laptop that can run it all, but I realize that's a tall order if its not a desktop. Mac's are also not an option through our company and its network. I've narrowed it down to the Dell Precision 7730 and the XPS 15.
The specs for the Precision7730 are:
Windows 10
Intel Core i9-8950HK
RAM 32 GB (can be upgraded to 64)
NVIDIA Quadro 5200
The specs for the XPS 15 are:
Windows 10
8th Gen Intel Core i7-8750H Processor
Ram 32 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050Ti 4 GB GDDR5
Any guidance would be much appreciated. I'm leaning toward the Precision for those times I have to do 3D modeling with Bentley products - mainly LumenRT, but I work in After Effects more so I want to make sure it can handle After Effects. Thank you for any feedback!

Hey theresap6372049
Both are great laptops, but I do recommend that which ever one you go with and depending on your segment output, it can take a very long time to do final render. With that being said, you can go with either laptop and compose a full composite with proxy but use another system to do final rendering. Unless you have the time to make coffee and or grab a beer to sit back and relax for a few.
