I cannot figure out the way to disable the Properties Panel. I don't want to use it, ever. I've tried closing the panel and saving as a new Workspace, but everytime I do something like double click a text layer it automatically pops up again LOL.
This was bugging me, too. I just noticed there's a button on the toolbar to switch the Properties panel on/off, as well as a checkbox to keep it from auto-opening. The options appear on the toolbar when I select a shape layer.

Thank you. That was what I missed. I didn't know that for shapes and type it is a different button. Now at least it doesn't pop up anymore.

Another solution: Undock Properties, make it really tiny and stick it up in the corner out of the way. Resave your workspace.

Upvoted! This is the workaround I'm currently using, and it's made life a lot better. It's almost as if the panel doesn't exist.
