Dynamic Asset Folder

New Here ,

Is there a way I can create a linked folder in the project panel to a folder in Windows?  Instead of importing or dragging and dropping new content into my project it would be nice if I had a folder that would update with content dynamically.

Thanks!

Not possible.

You can drag in an entire folder but a watch folder behavior is not available. Personally, I would not want it at all. I am always managing projects that are part of edits with many terabytes of data in hundreds if not thousands of files in dozens if not hundreds of folders that are organized by project, shoot date, take, and other data. This is the only way to manage large projects like feature films or documentaries. Even shorter projects for clients have their original footage separated into folders by date and job. Duplicating or moving the footage from already carefully thought out and standardized structure would create a nightmare. I don't think it is a good idea at all.

I would spend some time looking at various organizational strategies. Set up a project and file structure that lets you find assets, to back and make changes, and keep records so you don't end up spending days or even weeks trying to find that clip you moved into a watched folder.

I was hoping I could use a different folder per project to link. My projects aren't as large as most as I am making 30 sec or so advertising reels. I use a new folder for each of my projects, creating an assets folder within it, but would find it useful in my workflow if I could export images from Photoshop directly to that folder, skipping the process of importing manually. Thanks for the reply Rick!

Hey Chase. Take a look at this extension - it automates import/export stuff in AE and PR.
