This error occurred to me with a file linked from premiere and in premiere it doesn't let me see it either

That's not ideal.

Can you share a screenshot of the error? What's the version of After Effects Premiere Pro you're using? Please try this, save the media file to a different location and try to link it from the new location in Premiere Pro and After Effects.
