error: the name of the output module is already in use

Dear all,

I have 20 greenscreen shots which i want to batch render as a targa or tiff sequence. But when i have the batch ready to render, i get this message:

the name of the output module is already in use. Please choose another name.

i disabled the template of my output settings and choose the default settings of after effects. Still the same error.

I managed to render the batch in media encoder but this is not the solution to this error. It has to be possible to make a batch render in AE without getting this message.

please help.

kind regards,

Eelko

from Holland with love.

Sounds like a naming clash. Do all your comps have the same name?

No, all names and folders are unique and its not an render output location problem, it’s an out module problem. So, the name of the output module (like animation, tiff seq, etc) should be unique. Which is ofcourse, insane.

show us your render queue with the queue's collapsed so we can see everything.

Wait, have you customized the Targa Sequence preset or did you make your own named "Custom: Targa Sequence". If you made your own with that name, then that could clash with AE built-in naming for output module templates. Try renaming the output module template to something else.

Probably you are sending the rendered files to the same folder and they have the same name. When outputting, you have an option in the Dialog Box to create a subfolder for every comp that would take the name of the composition so this way you can avoid this problem. But as Justintaylor says, the first you need to check is that your comps are not using the same name,

the thing is: when the name of the rendered output file is the same u get a ‘warning’ question if u want to overwrite this file... but tgat is not the question. in theory i can‘t render a batch because i can use the output module only once at a time....

Here you can see the render batch. The output module has the same name, not the output to.

This also happens when i use a default setting (not customized)
