Hi there
This is a general question about the code autofill (auto-closing brackets)
When I go back to an equation that I am writing in an expression and want to add in brackets
Made-up example:
Original code 5+5*2 = 15
New code desired result (5+5)*2 = 20
When I type the left bracket (, it automatically closes ()
So in the case of the above I would get ()5+5*2 when trying to adjust and then have to delete or cut and paste a bracket.
Is there some shortcut instruction that allows me to say highlight the section and "put it in brackets"
or do I just need to decide if I turn off the autobrackets feature altogether etc.
If there is no shortcut I'd probably turn it off automatically but if there is I'd rather do the more efficient way if there is one I don't know of.
After all these years I stumbled across it, and it was so simple
After Effects Menu > Preferences > Scripting and Expression
There is an option there for Auto-Insert Braces. Finally found peace when I'm coding.

AE's expression editor is not a full IDE, so no, no real fancies. Why AE is showing this odd behavior in your case we can't know. You haven't provided any system info or other details. Sounds more like a problem with your keyboard.

Okay thanks for the reply
I don't know if I'd consider it 'odd' in this case -
Does your AE not auto complete brackets for you too?
In the right circumstances it's useful even,
I guess I will have to put it in the Adobe suggestions box. Maybe highlight the piece you want brackets and hit shift bracket or something.
