In after Effects I have a panning video of an object. It starts close to the object and pans out. I have text that comes up and I want the text to shrink with the footage as it pans out as if it was staying place, so as I pan out both the object and the text get smaller. I have already used the 3D tracker to create a camera and I've located an area on the surface of the object that seems to be facing the camera, seems to be flattest. I add a Null object (I've also added text) To follow that point but when I parent the Text to the Null object, the text is skewed slightly to match the angle of the surface of the object. I'm not wanting that. I just want the text to look normal, no skews, and to kind of shrink with the object as the camera backs out. I've tried going in and eyeballing the text to make it look like it is flat with the screen, but for some reason it still does not look right... Is there a way to clear the formatting the 3D camera gives?

From your description it is pretty difficult to give you the most efficient solution. If there is a fair amount of fixed geometry on your shot and there is very little lens distortion then Camera Tracking Math be the best option. On the other hand Motion Tracking or Motion Stabilizing may be the best option. Your project may be best handled using Corner Pin tracking in Mocha. It’s hard to tell. If it is just a simple pan and the speed is constant then you may be better off just setting a couple of keyframes manually.
Show us the shot and we can point you to the most efficient solution. If you want to try some of the things I mentioned then use the Search Help field at the top right corner of AE to get more information.
