How do I animate multiple scenes in a single timeline?

hi! This is probably a stupid question but I am very new to After Effects.

I am doing a simple animation and in it I am going from a wide shot and cutting to close up.

I have my inital wide shot animated but i’m struggling with how i put the close up in without deleting my previously animated scene.

Hi. Go to the time you want the cut then Edit/Split Layer. Then scale/position the top layer (you might want to swap the layer order for logic's sake, I always do).
