How do I create amazing coloured visuals in after effects?

I've started using after effects but have only created effects with basic pre-sets. I hope to make a magic girl like fight scene and transformation for my next project. But I don't really know where to start. Anyone know any good tutorials?

Here is a link to the kind of thing I want to create.

Colour visuals i want to re-create - YouTube

The show is Sabans Glitter Force and its on Netflix if you're interested.

Is it possible to create this in after effects, it doesn't have to be exactly like it but similar, of course the closets resemblance possible is a preference?

If after effects wont do it what other software will, (it doesn't have to be an adobe one)?

Could you link some tutorials? That would be awesome.

Thanks! I appreciate all responses.

Hi. Much/most of this can be done using Particle Systems (I presume you are talking about the surrounding effects, not the figures). AE has a couple built in, most notably its CC Particle World effect: these tutorials give you some idea of how to make light streaks and control the emitter:

There are other commercial programs such as Red Giant's Particular, Buy Red Giant Trapcode Particular | Download the free trial .

They take a bit of time to understand so look up tutorials on them so you can get a good grounding in what they can do and how to use them.

Your examples are very degraded (not something most people would want to do), so to get that look you will need to do things like adding lots of the glow effect so the brightest part burns out to white and/or highly compressing them a couple of times to make them look less good quality or even using blending modes that will break them up.
