How do I enable Cinema 4D Studio in After Effects after unintalling Cinema 4D Lite?

I'm running Cinema 4D R25 Studio on my machine. So, I uninstalled Cinema 4D Lite after installing Adobe Creative Cloud and installed Cinema 4D Studio afterwards.

Now, when I try to change a composition's 3D renderer to "Cinema 4D", an error message is popping up, telling me that Cinema 4D must be installed for using the Cinema 4D renderer.

How can I tell After Effects that Cinema 4D Studio actualyl is installed, up and running on my machine and ready to be used by After Effects?

I would guess you do not need to uninstall C4D Lite. You just install the full version of C4D and overwrite C4D Lite.

So, there is no option to manually register an existing Cinema 4D installation with After Effects?

I don't know if it's related, but you can try to create a new Maxon C4D File and then go to options where you can configure the C4D path.

I tried your suggestion, but (unfortunately) to no avail:

Cannot use Cinema 4D.gif

Is Cinema 4D properly installed in the default directory?

C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D 2024

Mine is installed at "C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D R25".

The registry key is: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Maxon\Maxon Cinema 4D R25", value: "Location: C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D R25"

OK @ToolfarmJP is right, you need C4D Lite and then in After Effects you can change the path of C4D from Cineware plugin options and purge all cache once it's done, maybe you can try to uninstall C4D Lite.

From my point of view, the requirement of installing a minor version instead of the full-fledged version first seems to be a quirk in the program code …

Currently, I'm researching on how to set the path manually, without installing the light version first. Anyone who is running the Windows edition of After Effects, would you please help me by opening the After Effects settings file at "C:\Users\{Your User Name}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\After Effects\24.5\Adobe After Effects 24.5 Einstellungen.txt" (the file name is localized, so on your machine the file name may be something like: "Adobe After Effects 24.5 Settings.txt") and tell me the path you see at :

["Cinema 4D"]
"C4D_LITEPATH" = ""

I have this:

["Cinema 4D"]
	"C4D_DoNotShowLicenseInformationDialog" = "1"
	"C4D_LITEPATH" = "explicit:C:\Program Files\Maxon Cinema 4D 2024\c4dpy.exe"

Thanks a lot! 👍

OK, that didn't suffice yet. I'll try to dig deeper into this later in my spare time then.
