how do i transition wipe many repeated icons individually???

I have 72 plane icons in a grid that I'd like to animate as part of an infographic. I applied the Repeater effect to my single plane icon to make 80 planes, then hid the last 8 with a mask, to show 72. I'd like to have the icons appear on the screen one after another in rapid succession. I already tried all the AE transitions, but none of them are what I'm looking for. I don't want to wipe them in line by line, but rather plane by plane. I'm looking for something like AE's typewriter effect for text, only this would be for icons.

I'm essentially trying to achieve this type of animation that I saw in a youtube video here:

OK.  all you need to do is animate the "copies" property of the operator from zero to 10 and your copies will appear one after the other.

Do the same for each layer then offset the keyframes so each line starts right after the other.

Assuming you know how to set a keyframe it's pretty basic stuff.

What's the "repeater effect"?   You mean CC RepeTile?

Hi Gutterfish,

No I mean the Repeater effect. I've used the CC RepeTile on other occasions, but in this instance I find the Repeater effect more useful:
