How do you use the Opacity Pulse at Marker preset?

I am assuming the "marker" refers to a layer marker (pressing "multiply" on the numpad) and have tried every variation I can think of to get it to work, but I haven't seen it work at all. I have tried applying the preset to video layers and solids and adjustment layers, but no luck. I have also tried the other opacity flash and random presets and have not been able to get them to turn the opacity to minimum (0%) at all. I feel like I am missing something simple, but can not figure it out for the life of me. Thank you!

Works just fine on my end using layer markers. Of course depending on blending modes and effect settings it may only show up when otehr layers are beneath.

Thanks for your response! I must just be missing something obvious. I have a blue solid over a red solid with several layer markers on layer 1 (the blue solid). Opacity of the solids is 100%. The parameters of the preset don't seem to change anything.

Maybe my expectations are wrong... I am thinking if Min is 0 and Max is 100 and attack and decay are 0 then my blue layer should disappear with no fading at each marker.
