how to duplicate a group of comps ?

hi

this is a very difficult question to articulate but here goes.

i would like to be able to duplicate a group  or "tree"  of different comps

i dont want the comps to relate back to the same original comp, i want that comp to also be duplicated.

i attached a little diagram of what i want to make it easier to understand

the top layer is what i dont want. the bottom layer is what i want.

any ideas how i can do that?
