How to make a 3D text with several pictures inside?

I want to make a word bevel up from a collage of pictures (the end of a slideshow), so that it kind of grows out of the pictures (the touched pictures shall be visible on top of the letters), when the word has made its bevel, the surrounding pictures shall fade out so that only the pictures within the letters are visible.

Is this possible and how would you do it?

I have searched for tutorials but can only find how to fit in a single picture to each letter and haven't seen that combined with 3d Text. If you can link to a tutorial I will be very grateful 🙂

Kind regards, Katrine

3. Make text a 3D layer.
4. Ensure you are using C4D renderer in AE
5. Extrude text (look under Geometry Options, animate extrusion as neccesary.
6. If the text is straight on then, duplicate the text layer and make it a 2D layer. Use this as a track matte on the collage.

6b. If this is not a straight on shot then you may need to manipulate the collage to map to the position, scale, rotation o
