Improvements for the new forum

Hi everyone!

While the new Adobe forum looks modern and finaly works well on mobile, a lot of the old functionallity is missing. The forum doesn't feel completed yet.

Let's take this post to collect all bugs, misses and ideas and give Adobe forum developers a central place to look them up.

Spell Check

On Firefox (69,0), the native browser spellcheck isn't working for the text input field, as @OussK alread pointed out

Filter

The filter default is set to "relevant", but we are more interested to "newest". The selection is not permanent, as @Rick_Gerald pointed out.

Furthermore, we wish to see not only the newest posts, but also the latest replies to a post - this was a very well working system on the old plattform.

Images

Posted images appearing very small and doesn't look like the original taken 1:1 screenshots, as @Rick_Gerald pointed out.

This is critical to us, since those screenshots are hugh helpers in trouble shooting!

Notification

While the idea behind the little notification bell is quiet nice, it's currently useless. There is no indicator which shows if something new happend, and we have to click on it, which brings us to a new page to see the newest activites.

I would suggest a similar behaviour as it is used on facebook's notificaltion bell.

Notification glitch

On Firefox (69.0.), there is a litte image glitch on new activities:

Insert/Edit code sample

This should be set to JavaScript as default, since JavaScript is, what we are posting in AE forum.

Mentioning

We cannot mention other users with @username anymore. That was a very handy way to communication to each other and I would love to have it back.

Ranks

Since we still have ranks in this forum, I would like to see the reward-system, as well as the ranks itself. It used to be a good motivator to participate.

Also, it would be helpful to see the rank next to the avatar image in a forum post. This would help other users to cassify a quality of the answer.

I'd also like to see if a post has been 'solved' or not.

If a post has been solved, it will appear with a Green check next to it. Go to the main Ae forum and 'Filter' by 'Resolved' to display all 'solved' answers. You can also filter by 'Unresolved' to look at unanswered topics. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the feedback, we are collecting all of it and passing along to the community team. We are prioritizing the top issues and will be updating the forums on a regular (likely weekly) basis to address any bugs here. Thanks for your continued support!

Answering a post

Answers to posts should have the normal multiline text editor, not just this single line without any formatting options.

Most of the time, we are going to write a lot, including screenshots and links, as an answer.

Answers

Answers should not appear collapsed and indented below the post, but as new reply to the original post.

Nobody will ever find the way to a solution, or the solution itself, if everything is collapsed and hippen from the first look.

Code editor

We need indents to make written code better readable. When pressing tab key, the focus should stay in the textfield, indenting the courser instead of jumping to the next item of input dialog.

LATEST

If I add a code sample, and then edit the comment, an extra line gets added to the top and bottom of the sample block each time I edit it.

If I change my display name in my Adobe account it doesn't seem to propogate through to the support community

The endless scroll gets very old very quickly if you're editing a reply to a long thread. You post, and the thread winds back to show you only the first few comments, so you have to scroll, wait… scroll, wait… I'm on a very fast network connection on my super-gofast workstation, and it's still tedious.
