Hey my name is Gary

Im a design student in Dublin,This is my first time resorting to a forum Im hoping someone can help, Im trying to insert an animated character I made in cinema 4d into footage in after effects. I applied the 3d camera tracking to my footage in AE, created a target area( my target at 100 % is too small so I have to increase the taget size close to 3000 % I then set this to target ground plane, then  I create a camera and null, when I try test the null and create text the bounding box is tiny at the base of the null and I have to zoom in and increase the size of the bounding box manually! when I import my tracked camera data in to cinema 4d I seem to be having the same issue my target object seems to small and doesnt show up on the tracked camera becouse of its size . Im stuck on this for days please help.

thanking you in advance

Gary Price

Nothing to fix because nothing is broken - in the AE sense. That's what you get when you can't calibrate a tracker to a reference measure. the camera solve is entirely arbitrary. No way around it other than using different tools like mochaPro or Syntheyes.

When you are taking a camera move After Effects assumes that the focal length is somewhat normal, the camera is a fairly normal distance from the subject, and there is minimal lens distortion. If your shot is with a very wide lens like a GoPro it's important to remove the lens distortion before you camera track.

When you have the shot properly prepared you can pre-compose and run Camera Track on the nested composition. The first step is to set an origin and ground plane then add a camera and a null at the same spot so you can check the track. If all is well then you should be able to find the spot you need to attach the reference plane (easier to use in C4D than a null) and start lining things up.

Without seeing the actual shot you are trying to use I can't give you any better advice.
