Live audio visualization?

So I know it's possible to make visuals react to audio in after effects. But is there a way (maybe not in after effects but a different program, or perhaps two programs working together) to make a visual react to a live audio input feed? videos like this are great (How to create Reactive Audio Spectrum Waveform Effects in Adobe After Effects (CC 2017 Tutorial) - Y... ) but I want this to happen live at an event with music coming from a mixer into the computer and then changing the visuals on the spot. I know I could have someone on a controller effecting different parameters on visuals using other software, but I don't want that. I want the visuals to react and change live based on the audio that is being directly input into the computer. Possible or no?

There are lots of devices that will drive lights, lasers and other things based on audio. I have not taken the time to look for video solutions but I'm almost positive there are some. I'd suggest a search for audio visualizers.
