Hello, i'm trying to make an animation of a shape morphing into another, but the transition really doesn't look great at all with what i've done so far from tutorials i've seen online, i understand they're pretty complex paths, screenshots below show the transition, any hlep/tips on how to do this smoothly would be much appreiciated

Why would you morph actual expanded shapes from AI, not just a simple path with a stroke? That aside there's simply no good automated way to handle such scenarios. This is really one of those things where you have to sit down and hand-animate the points. Also do not even try to directly go from A to B for your celtic knots. Just as much as it's a matter of animation technique, it's also one of overall design approach. Instead try to add an inbewtween step where you unravel the "yarn" or do some other animation along with the shape transformation to disguise inaccuracies in the morph and make things more interesting.
