A day ago I was working on a project in After Effects and I closed the project because I went to install a new font. When I tried opening the project again the "not responding" sign would come up and not let me do any sort of changes to the project. I have also noticed that I can not go back in previous project because the same problem has occurred again. I came up to the conclusion of scrapping the old project and starting fresh but within 2 minutes of not even adding anything to my project the problem happened again and just stopped responding. I've tried restarting my computer if that would help at all but it didn't. I've heard of re installing your AE but I wasn't sure if it would take away my projects or not so i'm a little worried to try.

Try removing the font you recently installed as this may be the cause of the issue.
AE will not delete previous projects or even existing projects; while you're working with it or if you install a new version. Advanced AE users usually have multiple versions of AE installed onto a single machine; to allow us to save our AEPs to a previous version, if the need arises that we have to deliver our project files to a client that is working with an earlier/previous version of AE.

I have removed the font and uninstalled + reinstalled AE. The same problem is still happening. Beforehand there was an option to update AE so I did and the problem stopped for a while but enough time to finish my project. As I went to make another project the following day the project stopped responding and is now not letting me do anything.
