Hello there,
I am a beginner and would like very much to learn efficient workflows for after effects. My current conundrum is the correlation between after effects, and blender.
I am at the extent of my budget currently so free software like blender is very appealing. yet I am not clear on the workflow.
For instance, let's say Im creating a star wars film. I want my actor to throw a 3d model of a lightsaber across a room. I am already clear on creating the saber effects etc within after effects but not the 3d model. Where do I start?
again, just looking for the general idea of the workflow here. If someone would rather point me in the right direction of where to learn more that'd be great!
thanks so much!

Hi,
Video Copilot web site would help you. Some of the plug-ins are free. You find the light saber type one. Video Copilot also offers 3D models at reasonable price.
Toolfarm tutorials are good to browse.

Hi Jaywal,
I would start by looking at some VFX breakdowns on YouTube. Then, you can get a feel for how these "StarWars" style films get made. Most are a blend of live action, VFX, and planned setups. Your question is rather broad, though. We could fill up a book with advice on how to go about such a thing as modeling a light saber.
There are also digital online classes you can take to get up to speed on this sort of thing. Let us know if you need suggestions for those. FXPHD is one I can recommend: https://www.fxphd.com/
Thanks,
Kevin
