Hey guys,
since my last update to AE 25.1.0 the possibility of exporting WebM-Files via MediaEncoder (v 25.1) has dissapeared. My collegues still have it. There used to be a downloadable plugin which some (not all) of my collegues needed to install in the past. This plugin is not available via AdobeCloud any more.
I do not understand the whole codec-chapter in detail (e.g. why are some codecs available for local rendering why some others are for ME) - simply pushing the button was - and still is - fine for me so far.
Can anyone help? Thank you in advance and have a great day!
As far as I know WebM is not included in the AME release, but lots of people (myself included) install a program from FNord which then adds an export option.

This plugin won't work on my Media Encoder 2025. I restarted ME, repaired the plugin 10 times, reinstalled it 100 times, relaunched my PC 1000 times, there's is nothing to do and it's extremely annoying... Is there any other plugin available? Thanks 🙂

Adobe, please consider adding native WebM import/export support in After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Media Encoder.
There are very few video codecs that support alpha channels natively, and WebM would be a valuable addition for modern workflows — especially for creators working with transparency and web delivery.
The Fnord plugin is actively being developed on GitLab, but its focus seems to be shifting toward broader WebM features rather than Adobe integration. If Adobe could collaborate or adopt an open-source approach (Apache-style licensing, for example), it could fold WebM support directly into the Import/Export modules and future-proof this functionality.

I've just tried and can confirm, I can no longer see any alpha option with the plugin - that's a real shame. Their manual does state Alpha channel support is unofficial. There is a custom arguments box, so there's hope that if we know the correct argument, it could be included, but I've looked at the git repo and am completely lost. Hopefully as a workaround it will return.
I did wonder if Media Encoder going to GPU rendering only might be part of the issue, but I can't see any way to disable that now.
