so basically i've accidentally tried to render a video with the cc repetile set to 20,000 which caused the rendering process to be halted with a notification saying the layer exceeds the maximum size. Ive tried command Q to quit and that wont work, i've tried shutting down my laptop/uninstalling the software but neither of these work whilst the application is open. Ive pretty much tries everything i can think of and nothing has worked.
I don't mind if i loose my work as it was only a short video
My computer is a MacBook Air 13inch with OS Sierra version 10.12.3. it came out early 2015
In MAC you can Force Quit the application by using shortcut ALT + CMD + ESC, which will give you the force quit window, select the AE application and click force quit.

Latest AE 15.2? just hangs sometimes and it keeps restarting but never loads. I cannot force quit it.
It will never start up again unless I reboot. So annoying.

Hi, I was in a rush last night a closed after effects in the middle of it loading, and I've gotten back onto my computer 24 hrs later and after effects is still unresponsive. I tried force quitting- still no response. I also tried restarting my MacBook but it wouldn't restart because after effects was still running. I cannot open the application or close it. !

You can open activity monitor and then look for the AE process...select it and click on the right-top button (Force a process to quit).
or you can force shutdown the system by holding down the power button till the screen goes black.

On Windows 11. I have both right-clicked and tried from selecting After Effects then "End Task" and neither workds. Neither does right-clickng on AE and choosing to "End tree Process".
Within Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app, it says "Open" next to AE but when I try to update Camera Raw, it says to close After Effects. ACC won't let me uninstall AE to try and reinstall it. Requires a full shut down. Not good
