Old file corrupted

New Here ,

Hello, I was trying to open an old file of an animation I did and when I did nothing was playing there weren't even thumbnails of the individual scenes and it seemed like there was no way to play it. Is there any way to fix this? I don't have this work saved anywhere I'm kind of desperate and devastated and I am not tech savvy.

HI,

I read your message. Sorry you're running into this—sounds really stressful. A few things to try:

  • Restart After Effects and your computer.
  • Clear your disk cache (Preferences > Media & Disk Cache).
  • Try importing the old project into a new AE file (File > Import > File).
  • Check the Auto-Save folder in your Documents—there might be a backup.
  • If possible, open the file on another machine or AE version.

Let us know what version of AE you're using and if you see any error messages. Happy to help
