Outer Glow behaving strangely in a 3D Space

Hi everyone! First time posting, but definitely not my first time finding answers on here - I've used After Effects a fair bit, but would still consider myself a beginner as I mostly look up how to do things and follow those tutorials, without exploring much outside of that realm, so over-simplification in any answers would be appreciated!

I'm having an issue with my current project. It consists of a bunch of videos floating within a black 3D space, some in the foreground, some in the background. The camera periodically pulls out and zooms in to change its focus to different videos (with its depth of field adjusting accordingly). All of these floating videos have the 'Outer Glow' effect applied to them. Everything is working fine and it's looking really good, but I'm encountering an issue with the Outer Glow, wherein it doesn't seem to adjust its parameters no matter whether it's in the foreground or the background. By this, I mean the glow is the same size on the screen whether the video is super far away, or whether it's really close - whereas the glow should be thin when it's far away, and a lot larger when it's close to the camera, but it's constantly a few millimeters thick wherever it is.

All of the layers are set to 3D mode, and everything else is working fine - the videos blur when the depth of field is adjusted, and they shrink on the screen when the camera pulls out. Everything else is interacting fully as it should do, except for the glow, so I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me out?

Thank you! 🙂

Unfortunately, Glow is a 2D effect, so distance to the camera doesn't alter it.

You can use an expression to control the size.

I show how to do this as part of a much larger tutorial on making a black hole in AE, but here's a timecoded link to how I made an expression:

Thank you very much for your super quick response! Ahh that makes sense - I shall get looking into expressions then, thanks!
