Paste Command not workingin AE 18.4

AE has updated to 18.4 today and now I can't paste text from other applications like Notepad or MS Word. It's not working with shortcuts and under the edit menu the option is greyed out.

But I can still copy/paste text from within AE.

I also tried to paste other things like paths from illustrator which are no longer working.

Thanks for writing in.

I just updated to 18.4 and I am not seeing any issue while pasting from a different application. Could you try resetting the preferences of After Effects and see if it helps: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-reset-trash-preferences-in-after-effects/td-...

While youre at it can you take a look at the issue with Roto 2.0 not working on versions after 18.1? Theres a ton of people in here experiencing the same problems. Any version after 18.1 Roto 2.0 propigates slowly and freezes. Thanks

Same here. Just updated to 18.4.

Can't paste any text from any document or browser. 

Copy paste works fine everywhere else but AE. With right click it shows nothing in the buffer, so paste option is greyed, while everywhere else pastes just fine.

Please need a fix asap this enormously slows down the whole workflow...

downgraded back to 18.2.1, copy paste works again...

Same boat as everyone else. I can actually paste the text into the search bar in AF, but not text in the content area that I actually want to. Something definitely messed up in this latest version. 😕

Same here super annoying. can paste into photoshop, animate, everything but after effects.

Which search field are you referring to? The one in the Project Panel or any other?

Hi Nishu,

It was the field next to the time/frames in your composition. The main timeline search box above all your content. I was able to paste text into that, but not in the main composition area. The only way I was able to solve the issue was going back one version. Hope that helps! 🙂
