Is there really no Bug reporting tool for After Effects?

I found a problem with Anchor point of Polystar. It is not correct when creating the shape. No matter if you use command to center it. It will not move correct. Only solution is to change to 6 points in the polystar and center the Anchor point. Then you can go back to 5 and it is still centered.

OK - I can see where the confusion is - I think : )

The anchor point you're seeing is the shape layer anchor point. This is centred on the bounding box of the shape layer - and therefore is radially off centre on these low-arm-count odd numbered polystars. However, having drawn the polystar go back to the selection tool and click on the 'Polystar 1' group. This will highlight the group anchor point - which is radially centred. It's just that this group anchor point is not typically visible - you'

I may be wrong, but is there a difference when rotating the polystar from the Shape layer and from the Polystar tranform?

As I think you realise - you can have multiple layers of transform in a shape layer. The shape path itself  - probably called 'Polystar Path 1' in this case - can have a position offset. That sits within a shape group - probably called 'Polystar 1' which can have its own transform, and that sits within the shape layer which has it's own transform.

Having looked at this afresh, I now understand what you're referring to. If you create a 3 point star the group centre point is set to the centre of the bounding box - not the geometric centre of the star. Am I understanding your point correctly?

Yes, you are understanding my point correct. What is confusing is that if I change to a 6 point star and set the anchor to center and then change to 5 again the anchor point is still in the center of the box, not the polystar itself.

Does that help?

Hi Mike, Yes I have figured it out that way as well. I think still it is confusing when looking at it but now I know the reason for it. And that helps. 🙂 Thanks for your time.
