Pre-compose not working

I used After Effects 2020 on a Mac, and no matter what I do, pre-compose doesn't work. I've tried the shortcut way, (command-shift-c) I've tried going to layers and doing it that way, and I've tried selecting all the clips in my timeline and right clicking too. I'm fairly new to After Effects aswell, so I am a bit confused.

Try going to the Layer/Precompose menu. 

If that does not work, open the Creative Cloud app and uninstall AE, then re-install After Effects.

Clic derecho en el o los Layers seleccionados / Pre-compose... Cuando te aparezca la ventana flotante no actives la casilla de verificación que dice "Open New Composition", déjala desactivada. Podrías estarla activando y esto abre la composición nueva, dando la sensación de que no funciona.
