problems with boundaries

Hi

I'm new here, hope that's the correct section for troubleshooting.

I have this very basic issue with boundary, that when I apply some effects to a shape or solid, it's  limited to the boundaries of the shape, and won't go beyond.

For ex, if I apply "roughen edges" to a shape, or a mask on a solid, it will be stuck whithin an ugly rectangle the size of the basic shape. (picture included)

Anybody ever had this issue?

Hi. Precompose the shape/masked solid then add the effect in your main comp. Your issue is related to the order in which AE processes the image - look up Render Order for further information.

I'm kinda frustrated, I hope some workaround (at some point I thought "grow bounds" would do this, unfortunately not) would exist... But it works.
