Puppet Pin tool Error

I have three layers that I am going to animate with the puppet pin, when I go to click it doesn't work on two and the last one does, pre comp and animate doesn't work either.

Thanks for sharing the screen recording. I haven't seen that before. What's the version of After Effects you're using? Can you try clearing the media cache (Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache)? If that doesn't help, try running After Effects in Safe Mode.
