Hello Community,
I am trying to animate random dots to form a word.
I need dots to ONE BY ONE make a word. I have done something manually so far in Illustrator then brought into AE but as it jumps to the next frame many dots all appear at once..this is not the concept.
I am quite new to AE.
Please assist.
Dots must drop directly onto the canvas like a spot of light.
See image attached
Thanking you in advance.

Well, you of course have to animate each and every dot as its own layer or shape group. There is no function that will magically turn a pre-made artwork into fancy animation. Other than that this is a typical scenario where you would use time-reversal and animate the final artwork exploding in a pre-composition, then reverse the playback in the parent comp. This can be done with particle effects or Shatter with a custom map. It would probably be best you looked up a few tutorials based on these keywords to get an idea. Outside that of course would be a good idea to study the AE online help.

If you want very tiny dots apply Scaterize to the whole word, and animate it from a huge value to a small one.
You could also use Shatter to explode your word, pre-compose, then time-remap the Pre-comp (nested comp) to reverse playback.
Another option is Particle Playground with a very small grid. There are a lot more efficient ways to do what you want to do than trying to animate a bunch of dots and get them to move into precise positions to form words.

You might be able to get a similar effect from using the CC Ball Action effect as well.
