Hi, is there an option to assign a shortcut to 'reveal in composition'? Or do you know if there is plugin or something to reveal my composition or footage in the Project panel using a shortcut?
Cheers
For now you can use the Search function in the Project panel or timeline which I use a lot.
Meanwhile these are the best options in the Timeline;
Right-click on a layer and Choose "Reveal Layer Source in Project" to find layer in the Project panel.
Right-click on a comp and Choose "Reveal comp in Project" to find a comp in the Project panel.
Look out for editable keyboard shortcuts coming soon! š

Iām sure there is no shortcut for this command but there is a simple way to reveal where the footage is located inside your comps. if you select the footage in the project panel, you will hace access to a drop-down menu where you can view where the footage is used and even the later number assigned to this footage in every composition. This drop-down menu is located at the right of the preview area inside the project panel, just click in the name of the footage to reveal where it is. We need to wait for the next AE version, announced these days at IBC where it looks that we can assign out own shortcuts.

Hey,
still itĀ“s not possible to map a shortcut on the keyboard for these functions, why?
either "show footage in Projekt"
nor "reveal composition"
nor show "footage in finder"
can someone explain why these very important search functions are still without shortcut?
I use this very often every day.
would love to be able to map every menu point
thanxs Peter

Right click in the timeline
Press r
press enter twice
The selected layer is revealed in the timeline.
Or use the arrow keys after you press the enter key to change the selection before you press enter.
All menu's in Ae respond to the keyboard. You can start typing and get to anything. I use the keyboard all the time when digging for an effect in the effects menu. It's way faster than the mouse only.

Peter, some menu commands unfortunately are not available in the shortcut editor. you should try asking for this as a feature request in the Adobe wishform page.
