Scalable hardware Rig For After Effects???

Jan 23, 2019 Jan 23, 2019

Hi there,

What would be the scalable hardware rig for after effects in contrast to workstations.

Workstations hardware have scale limit where we cant add more hardware to it.

How about Servers rigs for after effects? Like Nvidia grid ? Hp blade server?

Can After effects use all hardware resources connected to it and scalable?

There is no such thing as a scalable hardware rig for AE. You need to read up on how AE actually works, including the thousands of threads on performance on this forum and elsewhere. The rest is completely beside the point and irrelevant. AE isn't even designed to run on servers or use specific load-balancing and cloud-based techniques.

Hi Mylenium,

But there are tools like Render Boss and Render garden etc to make use of all cpu cores.

So at least Multi machine rendering is possible right?

Anyways i ll have a look at how AE actually works.

thanks

Yes, multi-machine rendering is possible, even with native AE render engine.

Render managers like RenderGarden or RenderBoss use multi process rendering (launching the render engine several times with differnt frame ranges). This means, you can have a set of computers as render farm, as well as one super-duper computer as renderstation, or a mix of both. Prepare yourself to need loads of RAM.

Render Garden, however, has no built in way to launch render processes remotely, but you can edit the python scripts in your flavor. RenderBoss seems to be designed to manage and run a headless render farm, but is also more expensive.

Cheers!
