I just got notification about After Effects, Premiere Pro and Flash Professional updates. Can't find anything about what's updated. When I click on MORE INFORMATION under Affter Effects CC update, the only thing that says is: "Adobe Media Encoder CC 7.0.1 Update: This update provides bug fixes".

Exactly the same thing says under Flash Profesional CC??

Edit: I have to add that After Effects seems a lot more responsive on my machine now. There is slight delay when I first open menu (top level), but going through options inside menus is super fast now. Also, shortcuts for example to reveal all keyframes on a layer, pressing "U" key works fine now.

...and... sluggishness is back. I forgot I completely turned off my PCI-E video card and switched to my internal one I have on my GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD3H Intel 7 Series Motherboard . It's still not perfect but it makes a little difference. Menus are not as sluggish as they are when using external video card. So, there could be something that these apps are fighting with video card drivers or something like that.

Back to waiting for this fix... sad.

Ok,i'm here again. I've started a new thread about this problem but no reply from Adobe and this is terrible.I mean,we need support and we need a reply from Adobe's team with a deadline. Is AE CC tested only on Mac? Menu delay and lags with keyboard shortcuts. Win7,Nvidia GTX680 4GB,i7980x,DX58SO with triple channel DDR3 12GB ram. If the menu delays and lags in keybord shortcuts are not related...well...that's not important at all! We all nedd that Adobe fix this terribles bug as quick as possible. AE is unresponsive in this way. I've tried everything as all of us here and nothing changes in this major issue.

Really hope that this lags, not only the menu delay, will be fixed soon...and for soon i mean the next week!

I feel your pain Roberto... the company I work at bought 8 licenses of CC and none of us are using AE, just reverted back to CS6. Maybe we should start screen capturing side by side comparisons and uploading them to youtube to better show these issues?

Yes Kutny,i have think the same thing! One camera on my keyboard and one camera on the monitor! Pain is the right name for this bug...i've tried everything to solve this. Revert back my graphic drivers, nope, multiprocessing on or off, nope, one monitor...two monitor...nope,CPU-GPU...nope...

Is impossible to work with AE in this conditions...i'll try to do my best to show this lags in a video as soon as i can. But i really hope that Adobe will resolve this issue before i start recording!

The fun thing is this: i have a Matrox MXO2 Mini with Max that i've unplugged from my pc waiting for the new drivers release. Well, today they release new drivers...and i can't use them!

We need to stay calm and relax

Here's what we know about the issue with slowness when clicking to open a menu or when using a keyboard shortcut. (We're still digging, though, so it may turn out that some of this is incomplete or incorrect.)

Because of a change for After Effects CC (12.0) that shows the activated user in the menus, After Effects is checking a file on disk each time that menus are accessed. Because of the way that we implement keyboard shortcuts, this also means that the file is checked each time a keyboard shortcut is used.

On computers where disk access is slow (e.g., because the disk is slow, the bus is slow, or something else is reading from the disk at the same time), this simple check of a file can add a noticeable amount of time---maybe half a second or even a couple of seconds in some cases.

We are in the process of fixing this. It is my hope (but not a promise) that we'll be able to have a good fix in place for the next update, which we're targeting for September.

In the meantime, here's how you should be able to mitigate the problem:

Make sure that your software is installed on the fastest disk that you have, preferably an SSD. If you don't have an SSD, then at least make sure that your software (applications and OS) are not stored on the same drive from which you're reading footage or to which you're writing output files. And certainly don't run applications with high disk access (like WinZip or anti-virus software that intervenes at every disk access, just for a couple of examples) while you are working with After Effects. (BTW, this is all good advice for high performance even without this bug.)

If you make these changes and notice an improvement, let us know. Actually, let us know either way so that we can collect more information.

So, how did this get past us? I think that it's because we tend to test on computers that are set up as I describe above, including tending to use SSDs and having our disk access spread across multiple disks. That said, we do apologize for letting this get out and inconvenience you.

I must agree with you Josef. The September "possibly" update is not the way to go. What scares me is that it seems to be a really bad and complex bug to deal with. A programmation error that is not so easy to resolve...so we need a solution from Adobe to make users happy. I'm not happy at this moment but i'm paying the subscription. If i make a mistake with one of my clients, they pretend a fast solution from me and if i can't assure them the solution in an acceptable time...well...they don't pay me!

Now we are the clients and Adobe is the pro that we engaged to do a work...September is too late, almost for me...but i can't do anything with this subscription model. I have to pay for a sw that i can't use (not a software that i "don't use").

Sorry if my words sounds a bit angry,i understand the situation and i'm not angry...i'm disappointed. Probably i'm the only one and my voice doesn't mean anything in the statistics, but evrey peace of sw or hardware that i have has given to me a lot of support. Matrox has released patches only for users with certain problems for example. I'm one of them and i've never felt abandoned by them.

Sorry again, but,as i said...i'm not happy...and sorry if i'm saying this in two differents threads,

> i'm not happy

Neither are we.

We are working on this now, and September is the earliest that we feel confident saying that we will be able to address this. Between a full investigation, fixing, testing, and distributing, these things take a while.

What I presume that you do not want (and we certainly do not want) is for us to rush this and end up making matters worse, breaking something else, or failing to fully address the problem.

I agree Todd, and sorry again if i'm not so constructive and positive on this...but i have thought that this new CC will be bugless or maybe well tested before the final release. Too optimist!

I know that there are a lot of system configurations and a lot of different situations to analyze. We can only wait the new release hoping that all will be fixed.

If i can help in some way,i can do beta testing! I've done it a lot of time!

I agree completely with Roberto, we are paying for software that is unusable. As soon as I completed my first project in AE CC I immediatly reverted to AE CS6 in hopes that a bug fix would come sooner than later and 45 days feels more like later to me.

@Todd_Kopriva

I have After Effects installed to an Intel SSD (same drive as OS).

All source media and project files are located on an external G SPEED Q connected via eSATA

Renders are written to a 4TB internal RAID

No virus software running

I posted hardware specs in an earlier post but here they are again

Windows 7 professional 64-bit

Intel Xeon CPU E5-2670 2.60GHz (x2)

64GB RAM

NVidia Quadro K5000

I want to see this issue resolved as quickly as possible, so if I can participate in any way, be it through beta testing or expanding on my experience and sytem information, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks,

Blake

This is interesting Blake.

So you are on an SSD disc and you have the delay problem too.

Are you running the SSD at SATA-3 speed or SATA-2 speed?

If you're not sure, what motherboard are you using?

The SSD you have is SATA-3 compatible.  If you're only running it at SATA-2 speed, you're not getting the fullest performance possible.

Your mobo has 2x SATA-3 connectors (also referred to SATA 6Gb/s connectors).  Plug your SSD into one of those ports.

SashaPP: I AGREE 110%!!!!  The system requirements do not state an SSD is required, so it should work with standard hard drives.  But until it's patched, an SSD may be the only way to go.

Making users wait until September, to make the software actually useable, is poor customer service on Adobe's part.
