> Making users wait until September, to make the software actually useable, is poor customer service on Adobe's part.
As I explained before, September is the earliest date that we can be somewhat confident of given the need to fully investigate, fix, test, and distribute such a fix. If what we're being (rightly) criticized for is making a mistake, then you don't want us to compound the mistake through a hasty fix that doesn't adequately address the problem or causes problems elsewhere.
Also, even though this is affecting some people, it is a rather small minority. We've been having a difficult time finding people who are experiencing this problem and are willing to work with us for diagnosing the problem. If you'd like to volunteer for this, please submit a bug report with your contact information:
Again, we're sorry for the inconvenience for the people who are affected by this, and we are working on fixing it.

I would think this is much larger problem than Adobe realizes... Many PC users may simply not have the time to invest in forum chatter and bug reports with deadlines looming over their heads. This makes me think of the mini-flowchart issue from CS6 while pressing the "shift" keyboard shortcut. That was, and still is, an issue that was never resolved as well as many bugs from that release that were never addressed.
Furthermore, at an AENY gathering last year, Steve Forde confirmed to the room that AE runs faster and better with custom PC systems. The company I work at literally specked out their new workstations based on his feedback at that event. Here we are today...

I'm a one man shop that puts in 12 to 14 hours a day to meet deadlines. I have time for bug reports and checking forums for problems because I don't have the time to not keep my machines running smoothly and point Adobe and other vendors to problems before they become productivity killers. Average time to document and file a bug report - 5 minutes. Average time to respond to a request for a file from the support team - 2 minutes.
I know you're frustrated. Sometimes things don't work as they should. That's why it's always a good idea to have disk image backups for all your systems so a rebuild is an hour instead of a day and to keep a version or two back of all your money making apps on each system so you can step back when problems occur and keep working.

That's addressed in After Effects CC (12.0).

Ok , i did connect the SSD to the right port this time , it looks like the menu issue is still there ( delayed ) , since i started the new projects in CS6 , am not sure about the entire software ( it was a single project made with CC and its a little painful )
this is a link a to the SSD http://www.corsair.com/en/ssd/force-series-gs-ssd/force-series-gs-128gb-sata-3-6gbs-solid-state-hard... and i wonder if there are specific once wh should get ? ... am not going to get a new one since this is clearly ( at least atm ) now a non SSD related thing on this machine ...
ill file a report asap.
i do have time to work with adobe to fix this issue or beta test

Hallo to everyone!
Today i've got back my laptop with a new HD (my second machine with Win 7 Pro SP1). Is a fast SSD disc. I've installed after a fresh format all the CC software that i need. AE too of course. Well...the problem is present. So we can definitely say that is not an SSD problem.
Please Todd let us know every step and discovery, so we don't feel abandoned!
Thank you,i will post something here to remind this issue!

We've identified the place in the code where the problem exists, and we're currently investigating the best way to fix it without introducing other problems. I'm confident that we'll have this addressed in the release that we have targeted for September, which will include other fixes, too.

Thank you very much Todd. If you have some prerelease or just a "test" version,as i said,i'll be glad to try it on my machine.
Thank you and sorry for all this messages.

SashaPP: I AGREE 110%!!!! The system requirements do not state an SSD is required, so it should work with standard hard drives. But until it's patched, an SSD may be the only way to go.
I agree too... but now we see even some people with SSDs installed are having similar issues. I'm pretty sure this problem is pretty simple actually, and after Adobe has spent a lot of time on reasearching all the most complex ways and solutions, they will realize it's actually something very simple, something that was sitting in front of everyone's nose
Let's all hope we will get this resolved sooner rather than later. It will be great day for everyone

Well,i hope that what Sasha thinks is right and that the problem is real simple to solve...but...if the SSD is out of the way,for me it means that what Adobe have discovered is not the solution. Who knows!
Rick,i agree with you. I spend my working day on my laptop with internet connection and on my workstation, waiting for renders and doing my job. But i have to agree with Kutny, because i have a lot of friends here that don't speak english very well (me too of course!) and use the sw in italian and have the same issue...well there is another thing...if i call the Adobe support here in Italy, they only speak english. For me is not a problem,i understand english better than what i write, but for most people is a pain!
So,probably there is a bit of people that have this issue and can't comunicate with Adobe. We are an old country, and english is not really the second language!
We are here and we are doing tests,if we can improve the situation...well done!
Maybe Adobe will offer a cold beer at the end of this adventure!

It should not matter and you know why? Because SSD was not one of the hardware requirements when we spent money on CC. It should work on older HDs as well. OK, make it super fast if you can for SSD, but do not ditch regular HDs. Many people are still on them and I am also one of them. I want this CC to work on my already pretty powerful configuration without any hardware upgrade.

My software company takes just as long and yet sometimes introduce different issues after resolving others. This is the unfortunate life of software development and testing.
We use Teststuff, ForBugz, and other apps to ensure everything is tested, reports and tested again.
But then again we only have 2 developers and 3 testers, not sure what Adobe has.

Because of a change for After Effects CC (12.0) that shows the activated user in the menus, After Effects is checking a file on disk each time that menus are accessed. Because of the way that we implement keyboard shortcuts, this also means that the file is checked each time a keyboard shortcut is used.
I checked the other CC apps, which also show the activated user in the menus:
Photoshop CC has ZERO lag, bug then again, those guys always seem to be ahead of everyone else.
InDesign CC/Illustrator CC have very noticable lag... but ONLY on the Help menu where the username is at. The performance of the other options seems unaffected.
Interesting how each app seems to have different levels of success in doing this. Adobe knows how to do this right, or at least ONE team does. 😉
Hopefully the Indesign and Illustrator teams have also bought the Photoshop guys lunch and asked how to fix their code.

I've just verified a fix for this problem, so I can say with certainty that this fix will be coming in After Effects CC (12.1), which is due for release in October:

Few more (very short) days left... not sure if we're gonna see this update anytime soon. Because, working in these conditions (with this slow UI and totally non-responsive menus) is becoming unbearable. It's the end of October, last two days ahead. First this update was promised in mid-September, than mid-October, and it looks like we're not waiting for that fix anymore, but to hear when is the next ETA.

quicker than CS6. And with the extra features I'm very excited about this

Is this update US only? Asking 'cause I keep checking for the update and there is nothing coming up on my end. Creative Cloud app (Windows) is not reporting any new updates available. This is the message I get when I try searching for updates:
"Your applications are all up-to-date as checked: less than a minute ago."
After Effects version 12.0.0.404
And yes, I am connected to internet and my CC account is connected and active too.

From any Adobe application, go to the Help menu and choose Help > Updates.
The Creative Cloud desktop application is sometimes slow to refresh with new updates (take some hours to catch up).
