Yes, I know... that's how I got that message I posted above. I tried it from After Effects a minute ago.
This is the screenshot from After Effects, update window, I made it 15 seconds ago...

Downloaded update from this page: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=13&platform=Windowshttp://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=13&platform=Windows
Aplied it and instantly, what a breath of fresh air! I have to admit I've lost all my hope I will ever see AE CC working smooth and fluid like it's working now. Great job guys, thanks!
I don't even care about new features (I will tomorrow, lol), all I wanted is this lag fixed. Thanks again!

Just one more quick question... are there any other updates to some other apps, or AE only?
I am asking because it seems like I can't get automatic updates at the moment, so I am not sure if there is anything else updated.
Thanks again!

Yes. Details are here:
If the automatic updates aren't working for you, check with the experts in download and installation issues here:

Funny thing, I just connected remotely to my studio machine and checked the update through Creative Cloud app. Instantly gave me notification that AE and Premiere Pro have updates. This one at home I am writing this on, still showing that Premiere Pro is up to date. Really weird.
Thanks again for all your help.

Edit: also, isn't Retina display connected with Apple machines?
Yes, but you can buy 2560x1720 PC monitors, can you not? Those as well benefit from improved text rendering at high pixel density as well as higher-res icons. Just seems someone did not allocate enough drawing resources for the main window and UI to compensate. Well, they'll work it out...

True to that! Well, let's hope we'll see some improvement in next few days... hopefully!

I wish I can call mine "slight delay"... sometimes it's so sluggish and slow that it locks up my whole After Effects for couple of seconds, literally couple of seconds 3-7 seconds until I can use any of the menus or icons or anything AE UI for that matter.

I'm also experiancing this menu click delay in After Effects CC
I've also noticed a delay in Photoshop when using the Clone Stamp and Heal Brush tools. Holding "Alt" takes a second or two to kick in and I end up painting instead of choosing a new point to paint from. (I know this is unrelated, but thought it was worth noting)

I run into this if my project contains a lot of pre-comped expressions. (For example, I was using a pixel snapping expression to make sure each layer position landed on a whole pixel) So the expression itself wasn't complicated, but all them added together made AE's UI really sluggish.

That's a different issue, Navarro. We're also working on that, specifically by separating the UI from the rendering thread, but we don't expect that work to be done for a while longer. The menu and shortcut slowdown because of the checking of a file on disk is now well understood, and we're working on a fix for September.

Hi Todd! Any news on a beta release to test or maybe a real date in which the update will come out?
Thanks!

The same as I said before: The current target is to fix this in our September release.

Have this been addressed in the new After Effects 12.1 update ?

I have updated to 12.1 and the problem is still there. I've had CC for months now and still will not use it because it's unusable. I have 10 subscriptions that I'm paying for and my company is still using CS6. Unless they plan another update in the next few weeks it looks like that fix isn't coming in September.

That's not possible. After Effects CC (12.1) is not available yet. It will be available in October.
The September release that we were targeting has moved to October so that we could get as much fixed with high confidence as possible.

I updated yesterday after reading all of the news of 12.1. I didn't check to see what it actually upgraded to. I just assumed it was 12.1 because of all news. Sorry about that. Still hoping for the fix.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on installing AE CC, despite having the subscription for about a year now, thinking that giving Adobe a few months to work out the kinks would be enough time. Then I smacked right into this.
I'll guess I'll just revert back to CS6 until October. I understand bugs slip through, but this really is salt in the wounds of people that didn't even want to sign up for the subscription in the first place. Now, we're not even getting the benefits of the subscription, we're just paying for it.
And by the way Todd, I don't mean to pick on you specifically. I appreciate your effort and your communication on this forum.
