Solid Layers with Beam Effect don't move with 3D Camera

Hi,

I've created a grid which looks like a network. I connected the grid on the bottom and the grid on the top with beams. For that I created a solid and put the effect "Beam" and "Fractal Noise" on it. After that I created a camera which moves into the network. However, the beams don't move with the grid. They just freeze. Everything is on 3D. I hope someone could help me.

Here is my ae file. I've already animated a camera movement which shows the problem.

Here's the file. Feel free to edit if you've found a solution: https://adobe.ly/2HrtbLf

I am recreating something like that: H_IDE by Watch_Dogs [UK] - YouTube

Kind regards,

Erik

Your Beam is move correctly but it's not synced with the grid movement because the Z position are different between the beam and the grid, to fix this you need to set all your grid and beam to the right Z Position

Thanks for your response. Does that mean I have to change every Z position of all these beams and grids or is there a useful expression?

Beam is not a 3D-aware effect and cooking up an expression would be tricky - it's boring, complex vector math involving cosine transforms. Looking at the video there isn't even a reason to make it that complicated - they're just using thin basic 3D solids and the noise effect is slapped on after the fact in 2D. If you're looking for something else, then buying the Plexus plug-in or moving on to a 3D program would be advisable. Otehrwise it's realyl just a matter of laying out the 3D grid as native 3D layers, not with effects.

You can try precomposing all the beams then you can move the whole composition (all the beams) at once
