Straight path shapes curving

When I am using the pen tool, I don't know why but when I connect the start of the path to the end, it bends the shape. Do you know how I can fix this (it didn't used to do it)?

If you drag out a bezier handle on the first point or you drag when you complete the path both bezier handles will snap into a symmetric position around the first vertex. If you do not click and drag the entering and exiting path will not change. It has always been how AE works and as far as I can tell, it still works that way.

Check that you haven't accidentally selected the 'Rotobezier' checkbox that appears on the toolbar, to the right, when you have the Pen tool selected.

You can also ALT-Click on any mask or shape vertex to instantly convert it to linear.
