I'm nearly 100% certain it is illegal to trade templates unless these were made available, for free.

Lots of places that give out free templates have stolen them. For example, if some YouTuber is giving out a free template or a pack of them, I'd be willing to wager 90% of the time, it's stolen. I'm not saying you have ill-gotten gains, I'm just saying the odds are good.

Occasionally, a digital product may be given away for free, as a promotional attempt. However, digital products given away for free also include licensing stipulations which restrict an individual's ability to share, trade, re-sell to others. Unless you developed a product on your own, it is very, very, very unlikely that you have the legal rights to claim ownership in such a manner which allows you to distribute, sell or trade a digital product based on your whims and fancies or excessively creative thinking. 😉
