Third party apps in AE CC across multiple versions

I am sure I am not the only one to find this annoying. I have Adobe Creative Cloud and more specifically, After Affects. Every time Adobe updates to a new version of AE CC, I lose all my third party plugins! This can get very annoying and time consuming to re-install them and then set-up preferences for each again.

I am sure it is my ignorance which is causing this dilemma, so could someone please tell me how to install third party apps and allow them to be carried over into future versions of AE CC with-out having to re-install them?

Thanks,

Scott

Won't happen. Not in a million years. At this point basically every new version of AE requires updated plug-in versions, anyway and traditionally Adobe apps never have migrated plug-ins, scripts etc. simpyl for the fact that incompatible code and data may crash the app. the only program that did it once was Photoshop, but even they have again removed this functionality.

Red Giant, Boris FX, Video Copilot, Saphire, and a few that I can't think of right now are showing up in all of my updates for the several versions. Sometimes an update is required and Red Giant is very good about that if you use their installers correctly. I also get almost all of my scripts.

There is nothing to guarantee future compatibility, but unless you are doing custom installs all of the major 3rd party plugins that I have on my system, and I have a bunch, always show up in the newer versions.

Plugins installed in the mediacore folder should carry over. Plugins in the Application folder can be copied and pasted between major releases. If it's a patch update the installer shouldn't touch 3rd party files.
