New Here ,
Mar 25, 2020 Mar 25, 2020

Hi,

I am a total beginner to AE.

I have 17.05 installed on a my pc.

I am trying to edit a template that I bought. I have still not heard from the creator of this template.

.

I seem to be missing the yellow timeline tracker on my Timeline workspace and so I can't edit any TextPaceholders.

Please see the screengrab image attached of my screen.

and below this is the what it should look like.

https://prnt.sc/rmqyqz

Please can you you show me how to enable the yellow slider?

Thanks

In the latest version of After Effects, the CTI  (current time indicator) is blue.

What tutorial are you trying to follow? I would be very warry of tutorials on YouTube. Most of the new ones are posted by enthusiasts that don't really know what they are talking about and even when they do, they are not well explained. Make sure you vet your trainers. I would suggest that you check the user guide tutorials: Learn AE

Hello Rick,

Thank you for your response.

The link you posted does not work.

The CTI is not visible at all on my AE, how do I activate it?

Fixed the link. If you cannot see the CTI then the comp time at the far right is outside the range of the timeline window and maybe even the comp. In other words, if you have the entire timeline showing and the comp is 10 seconds but you set the comp time to 0:00:20:00 the CTI will not be visible. If you have zoomed in to the timeline and the CT is set to 10 seconds but the view only shows the first 2 seconds the CTI will not be visible.

Fastest fix: Click anywhere in the timeline just above the frame numbers to snap the CTI to that time.
