Video brightness or exposure increases when imported in After Effects

New Here ,

Hello,

I have just installed After Effects and when I import a video the brightness or exposure increases as soon as I drop it in.

On the attached image the left is the original and the right is the video placed in After Effects.

I have attached the composition settings if that helps at all but probably has nothing to do with it.

Is there something in my settings that I would have to adjust?

Thanks

You need to read the online help on color manegement and footage interpretation. This happens when phones use e.g. "HDR modes" and attach weird color profiles to footage. Similarly, it may relate to hardware acceleration isues. Anyway, it's all in the help, so do soem reading on the basics and come back if you can't figure it out.

Have a look at my post here.

You can download that LUT I made and use it in AE with the Lumetri Color effect or create an SDR version of the file via Photos app which is not super practical if you have to do a lot of files.
