video is frozen on the first clip and glitches to that clip throughout entire video

my video on after effects started to glitch and freezes only on the first clip and is stuck on that clip in the whole video and won't play correctly with the rest of the clips. this started to happen when i added exposure on the clips, but when i tried to remove the exposure effect, it still remains frozen. I've tried to retrieve an old save but can't find it and I'm not sure how to fix this ??

Do you mean the video is "stuck" in the preview window, even when you scrub the timeline?

Make sure you're viewing the Composition preview window, and not a Layer or Footage preview window.

Try purging your memory and cache.  Go to Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache.  Restart After Effects.

how do you restart after effects? is there a certain option or do you just close out of it?
